Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Capture X browser extension ("the Extension") and this website ("the Site") handle information. We have tried to keep it short and readable, because the honest summary is simple: the Extension does not collect, sell, or transfer your personal data.

1. The Extension

1.1 What the Extension does

Capture X captures screenshots of webpages and scrollable areas, lets you edit and annotate them, and exports them as PDF, JPEG, or PNG files. All capture and editing is performed locally in your browser, on your device.

1.2 Data we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect your screenshots or their contents.
  • We do not collect your browsing history or the URLs of pages you visit.
  • We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or location.
  • We do not use analytics or tracking inside the Extension.
  • We do not sell or transfer data to third parties, and we do not use data for purposes unrelated to the Extension's core function or to determine creditworthiness.

1.3 When the Extension runs

The Extension does not run in the background by default. It activates only when you click the Extension icon, and requests only the minimum browser permissions required to capture the page you are viewing. You always control when it is active.

1.4 Google Drive upload (optional)

If you choose to use the one-click "upload to Google Drive" feature, the screenshot is transmitted directly to your own Google Drive account using Google's services. This happens only on your explicit action. Google's own Privacy Policy applies to data stored in your Google account. We do not receive or retain a copy.

1.5 Local storage

Screenshots you save are stored on your own device in the location you choose. Settings (such as your preferred export format) may be stored locally in your browser and never leave your device.

2. This website

2.1 Server logs

Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical information when you visit (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and operational purposes.

2.2 Cookies and advertising

This Site may use cookies for basic functionality and may display advertising served by third parties, such as Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and learn more at how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

2.3 Contacting us

If you email us, we use your message and address only to respond to you. We do not add you to mailing lists or share your address with third parties.

3. Children's privacy

The Extension and Site are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

4. Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes to the Extension's data practices would also be reflected in its Chrome Web Store listing.
